LEVER GROUP
The spring-loaded lever group is the most iconic feature of the Kees van der Westen Spiritello. This classic technical system, renowned for its deep pre-infusion and naturally reducing extraction pressure, has been upgraded with modern engineering to enhance stability and consistency. The result is an ideal extraction — making it easier for baristas to consistently brew expressive, well-balanced espresso shots.
AUTO STOP
The Spiritello offers two auto-stop functions:
Auto Stop by Weight - Via the display on the Spiritello, you can activate the auto-stop by weight option, after which you can connect an ACAIA Lunar scale and set two different target weights. The machine has an integrated formula, based on the measured flow rate, to stop the shot in-time and prevent an overshoot. Next to this, you also have the option of setting a standard off-set per target weight.
Auto Stop by Pressure - In the display of the Spiritello you can activate the auto-stop by pressure function. This function offers you two pre-set options. When other variables are kept stable, the auto-stop by pressure gives you an easy repeatability of volumetric shots.
PLUG & PLAY
Getting the Spiritello up and running is straightforward — simply plug it in and fill the integrated 3.5-litre stainless steel water reservoir. It features a quiet internal rotary pump, ensuring smooth and consistent operation. The drip tray is designed for easy removal by sliding it forward and lifting upward. For added flexibility, all components required for direct connection to mains water and drainage are included, giving you the convenience of setup tailored to your specific needs.
ADJUSTABLE PRE-INFUSION PRESSURE
The pre-infusion pressure is adjustable from 1.5 to 4.0 bar, by a large knob within easy reach underneath the machine. This infusion, as well as the subsequent extraction, pressure, is shown at the pressure gauge.

STOP & FLUSH
The Spiritello offers the possibility to stop extraction and flush the group without pulling the big lever. There's a small button next to the lever for this function.
Pushed during extraction, it will stop the shot immediately and the lever will quietly return to its resting position. Right next to it, there's another button to easily purge and clean the group screen.
DISPLAY
At the heart of the Kees van der Westen Spiritello is a prominently placed 53mm (2-inch) round digital display, designed to give the barista full control over the machine’s performance. Paired with an adjacent push/turn rotary knob, this interface allows for intuitive navigation and precise tuning of parameters — from brew temperature to eco mode and other key operational settings.
When the lever is engaged, an automatic espresso shot timer appears prominently on the display, giving baristas immediate visual feedback for accurate and repeatable extractions. With a focus on ergonomics and ease of use, the Spiritello’s display bridges classic lever functionality with modern-day digital control.
ZAPPO STEAM WAND
The Zappo steam wand on the Kees van der Westen Spiritello is engineered for both performance and safety. Constructed from a double-walled stainless steel tube, it features a PEEK steam tip with four precision-drilled holes, each measuring 1.2mm — optimized for consistent steam flow and fine milk texturing.
